One point that is often highlighted in the murlis is that “The whole drama, of which we are a part, is pre planned and lawful. It is a cycle that repeats itself every 5000 years.” Baba often says that “Kalp pehle jo hua tha wahi hoga, Kalp pehle jinhone purusharth kiya tha wahi aage bhi karenge.” It has also been said in the murlis that every soul has got a role to play in the drama and by doing purusharth one can get rid of the patit nature and could attain liberation. But these two ideas appear to be contradictory. If the role of a soul is already determined then where does the law of karma/voluntary actions (that we choose to perform) come into play? For instance, Duryodhana had got the most important role to play in Mahabharata. And if he hadn’t performed those evil actions, it would not have led the Pandavas realize their potential and Arjuna to reveal Gita. But what about Duryodhana’s opportunity to get liberation? He never had a choice because he was already assigned this role according to the worldly drama, so can we say that he was bound to perform those evil actions according to his role? And if it is so then where did his own choice lie? It is mentioned in murli that the drama is predestined and that every second is identical to the previous cycle. Then what is the significance of doing good karma if the future is already decided upon? Also who has decided the predestined drama? Please clarify our doubt. Think with your intellect (buddhi). How can God, who is so great to make this world this beautiful can create a Drama in which souls have no option? ! Definitely, there is an option whenever you do a Karma. Firstly - option to whether to DO or to NOT TO DO that karma. God has gifted us with intellect (buddhi) to decide what is right and wrong. So the future will depend on the present karma. If you have already done a karma, the consequence is now destined. You must and will definitely get the fruit of THAT karma which is already done. This is a law. Every soul gets the fruit of its own past karma. It is not that the future is predestined. Original Question: My parents love my brother(We are 3 sisters and 1 brother) . They don't want any of us girls to go ahead of him. Mom calls and visits me even though we live in different countries. The fact that she wants my brother to be ahead of us and at the same time she wants to keep contact with me makes me sooo mad. I know shes my mom but she says things that make me so angry like girls should not be money minded and says the opposite to my brother. How do I deal with her? I want to cut off completely. Our Response: TO: Pratichi (and everyone reading) Dear Sister Your message was received. In actuality, there is no problem here. Your mother is doing her responsibility to praise the goodness in their children. She wants you not to become money minded, because of a good reason, isn't it? Is money mindedness good? So it is not to worry - a relationship of parent and child (especially with mother) isvery very noble. Mother always tries best for children. Yes ther may be a sense of favoritism for the son, because she have only 1 son compare to 3 daugthers.. But love is love.. one cannot say that my mother doesn't love me..but today's children are moving away from truth. Instead one should always think with a peace of mind.. Do not hurry taking decisions . Calm the mind. Mind is the best friend and the best enemy.. So train the mind and make it yours. Use the mind to feel happy. Sometimes there is nothing outside and we create imaginations with the brain. We also feel then that the imagination is the truth. So be careful. Just be free in mind.
